During this tour, you will also have the chance to visit the famous Salt Mines of Maras. We will be driving along a dirt road winding through the charming town of Maras, and after about 20 minutes, we will reach our destination. The Maras Salt Mines are an extraordinary network of thousands of salt flats cascading down the mountainside in the Sacred Valley. These salt evaporation ponds have been used since Inca times and are still actively exploited by local communities.
Enhancing your experience we also add to your adventure a tasting of traditional Peruvian chicha. Chicha is a fermented corn drink, that played an importante role in Andean culture. Before we go to the Alpca farm we will stop by a Chicheria (Chicha house) where you will taste this ancient drink and learn about its preparation and cultural importance.
Concluding our experience you will be mmersed yourself in the local culture with a visit to an Alpaca Farm in Chinchero. You will be able even to feed them and interact while becoming familiar with the art of traditional alpaca wool weaving.

Embark on our half-day Sacred Valley day trip from Urubamba, beginning with a comfortable hotel pick-up at around 8am. On your journey to the charming town of Maras, you will enjoy breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, picturesque corn and potato fields and quaint villages.
Your adventure begins here with our first visit to the enigmatic ruins of Moray, an archaeological site commonly believed to be an agricultural laboratory of the Inca. The enigmatic ruins of Moray consist of mysterious concentric terraces were used as an agricultural laboratory back in Inca times. Believe it or not, they were able to adapt different plants at different levels, allowing even non-native plants to achieve acclimatization.
From Moray, we drive to the salt mines of Maras, centuries-old salt evaporation ponds that have been in operation since Inca times. you will witness the ancestral techniques used by the local people to harvest the salt.
After the Salt Mines, an authentic Peruvian experience awaits you, we will visit a Chichería. Here you will have the opportunity to taste chicha, a traditional fermented corn-based drink.
Finally, as part of the tour, you will also have the chance to visit an alpaca and llama farm in Chinchero, if you wish. Here you will learn about their role in Andean culture and the textile industry.
